Welcome to the Hebrew Academy of Tidewater Konikoff Center of Learning and Strelitz Early Childhood Center!

Thank you for your interest in our school affectionately known as “HAT” and “Strelitz.” As an alumni, parent, and now Admissions Director, I love talking to prospective parents about our school.

The Strelitz Early Childhood Center welcomes infants, toddlers and preschool students. Strelitz is an educational partnership of the Simon Family JCC and the Hebrew Academy of Tidewater, and welcomes children of all faiths. We are proud of our developmentally appropriate curriculum which incorporates well-known phonemic awareness and handwriting programs. Additionally, our preschool experience includes music, physical education, library time, cooking and swimming.

HAT serves students in kindergarten through fifth grade. We are a Jewish community day school with families from varying Jewish backgrounds and levels of religious observance. Students are challenged to meet their full potential in all academic areas. Through the Jewish day school experience, our students develop a strong Jewish identity, grounding in Jewish values, and confidence in the Hebrew language. From the moment you step foot in our school, you will feel the warmth of our family community.

HAT graduates excel in a variety of accelerated middle school and high school programs throughout the area in both private and public schools and go on to the best colleges and universities. We love catching up with them at our social and educational alumni programs planned throughout the year.

Our location on the Sandler Family Campus affords our students access to the JCC’s state of the art sports facility including a gym, pool, tennis courts, soccer, and basketball fields.

I encourage all prospective families to schedule a tour of our school. From the moment you arrive, you will see what draws families to our wonderful learning community. From parents chatting in the hallway about the next school event, students participating in hands on learning, and visits from our alumni and parents, our school is truly a special place. Please save the date for one of our Open Houses or contact me to schedule an individual tour.
