Hebrew Academy of Tidewater seeks Jewish students who seek a dual curriculum, including those without
previous Hebrew language backgrounds. Admission to the school is possible at any grade level. Interested students and their parents are invited to visit our school for tours, interviews, and classroom observation. Applicants for kindergarten should be five-years-old by the start of school. The admission process for all grades includes an evaluation by our admissions director, as well as transcripts from the prior school and an interview/visit by the parents and the applicant. Standardized admission tests are used to help determine grade level placement.
Strelitz Early Childhood Center preschool seeks young students between the ages of two and four, who
would benefit from a developmentally appropriate setting where early learning and Jewish life are linked. Parents and students are invited to visit our school for tours, interviews, and classroom observation. The admission process includes an evaluation by our admissions director and an interview/visit by the parents and the applicant. (Special note: We are happy to accept children who are still in diapers.)
The Strelitz Early Childhood Center and H
ebrew Academy of Tidewater Konikoff Center of Learning have served the educational needs of Hampton Roads families for a combined total of more than 80 years. Today, students who walk through our doors on the Sandler Family Campus receive even greater advantages, from the new facility and its advanced technology to its head of school, Zena Herod, who has more nearly 30 years of experience working in the world of independent school education.
But there’s more to our program than the strength of our history, outstanding curriculum and faculty. It’s about who our students become by the time they graduate. They are confident, prepared, bright students...they also fully understand that none of this holds true meaning without the spirit and ethics that they are infused with throughout their years here. Our educational programs shape the moral fiber and values of our children who depend on these character traits for a lifetime.
